Representative Jim Coley today announced his official endorsement of John Gillespie for State Representative. Coley is not seeking re-election to the House District 97 seat he has held since 2006.
“John Gillespie has an impressive background in finance that will help him keep Tennessee on a fiscally conservative path,” said Coley. “He’s also lived most of his life in Shelby County and will make sure our community is not left behind the rest of the state. John shares my passion for public education. He will fight for our schools and support pre-K, too,” Coley remarked.
“John Gillespie will make a fantastic State Representative. He has my full support,” said Coley. “I’m very grateful for Representative Coley’s support,” said Gillespie.
“Jim Coley is a compassionate leader for our state. He’s fought hard for our public schools and he’s been a leader in the fight to protect the most vulnerable in society. Jim will be greatly missed in the legislature,” remarked Gillespie.
A graduate of High Point University in North Carolina, Gillespie is a native Memphian. He serves as Grant Coordinator at Trezevant Episcopal Home where he writes and researches grants, plans events, and solicits major gifts. Gillespie began his career in banking and finance starting as a customer service representative at a local bank before working his way up to the mortgage division at another Memphis financial institution.
Gillespie is seeking the Republican nomination for House District 97. HD 97 includes parts of Bartlett, Cordova, and East Memphis. Visit VoteJohnGillespie.com for more information.
