John Gillespie today announced he has received the endorsement of Bartlett Mayor Keith McDonald. Gillespie is the Republican nominee for the House District 97 seat that includes parts of Bartlett.

“John Gillespie is the clear choice for State Representative,” stated McDonald. “He has valuable financial experience. As a member of the Republican supermajority, he will be effective in Nashville and, most importantly, John understands the importance of Bartlett City Schools to this community. I fully support John and encourage Bartlett residents to cast their ballot for him in November,” McDonald said.

“Mayor McDonald has been a leader, not just for Bartlett, but for suburban Shelby County for two decades,” said Gillespie. “He shepherded Bartlett through a period of tremendous growth yet maintained a strong sense of community. I appreciate the mayor’s advice throughout my campaign and I’m humbled to have his endorsement,” remarked Gillespie.

Gillespie is running for State Representative to rebuild the economy, create jobs, and support law and order. He plans to use his financial experience to maintain Tennessee’s low debt, AAA bond rating, and record reserve fund. Gillespie is a strong supporter of our law enforcement officers.

A graduate of High Point University, Gillespie is a native Memphian. He began his career gaining valuable financial experience at two local banks. Gillespie now serves as Grant Coordinator at an East Memphis senior living facility. He is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

House District 97 includes parts of Bartlett, Cordova, and East Memphis. Representative Jim Coley is retiring from the HD 97 seat at the end of this term and has endorsed Gillespie. More information about Gillespie may be found by visiting VoteJohnGillespie.com
