John Gillespie was elected to the District 97 seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives last night with a 485-vote margin of victory. “I’m humbled the voters of Bartlett, Cordova, and East Memphis put their faith in me to represent them in the State House. I look forward to representing Shelby County,” remarked Gillespie.
Gillespie’s campaign focused on rebuilding Tennessee’s economy and supporting our law enforcement officers. He wants to maintain Tennessee’s low debt, AAA bond rating, and record reserve fund. Gillespie also plans to focus on controlling COVID and returning life to normal.
A graduate of High Point University, Gillespie is a native Memphian. He supports the mission of a local senior living facility by serving as Grant Coordinator. Gillespie began his career in banking and finance starting as a customer service representative at a local bank before working his way up to the mortgage division at another Memphis financial institution. He is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Representative Jim Coley is retiring from the House District 97 seat and endorsed Gillespie.
